Royal Air Maroc opens its cockpits to pilots from around the world

The call was published worldwide by Flight Crew International (FCI), a company specializing in recruiting and providing crews to airlines. The offer concerns positions based in Morocco on behalf of Royal Air Maroc.

Three aircraft families are being targeted simultaneously: Boeing 737 NG and MAX, Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and Embraer E170 and E190. The airline is seeking captains and first officers for the 737 and E190, while recruitment for the 787 currently concerns first officers.

The offer published on FlightGlobal is explicitly open to candidates from around the world. The first arrivals may take place as early as September and October 2026, and new pilots may subsequently join the airline on a regular basis.

The requirements show that RAM is targeting pilots who are already immediately operational on these aircraft. Captains must have at least 1,000 hours as captain on the Boeing 737 NG/MAX or Embraer E170/E190. For first officers, the minimum is reduced to 300 hours on the relevant type. Boeing 787 candidates must also have at least 300 hours on the Dreamliner.

All must hold a valid type rating, a Class 1 medical certificate and have recently flown the aircraft concerned.

Five-year contracts to support the new fleet

Royal Air Maroc is not relying on a single recruiter. British company AeroProfessional, which had already been commissioned to support the airline’s planned mass recruitment of pilots, is also currently offering several RAM positions in Casablanca.

AeroProfessional states, for example, that it was directly tasked by Royal Air Maroc with recruiting first officers for the Boeing 787. Holders of EASA, FAA or ICAO-compliant licenses may apply. The ability to obtain a Moroccan work visa is among the required conditions.

The same recruiter is also seeking captains and first officers for the Embraer E190. For these positions, RAM is even planning assistance with visas for the spouses and children of recruited foreign pilots.

The terms offered provide an indication of the scale and duration of the operation. Contracts may last up to five years and be renewed. They notably include 24 days of annual leave, a block of seven days off each month, annual bonuses and additional pay beyond 80 flight hours. The exact salary amount has not been published, however.

Candidate assessments must notably include remote interviews before travel to Casablanca for tests and simulator sessions.

This international opening comes as Royal Air Maroc prepares for a gradual transition to a fleet that could reach 200 aircraft. The program contract signed with the Moroccan state provides for a very sharp increase in the number of aircraft and in traffic by 2037.

The airline already operates the three main families targeted by this campaign. Its fleet includes Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX aircraft for medium-haul routes, Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft for its long-haul network, as well as Embraer E190 aircraft.

The objective is therefore no longer solely to train new Moroccan pilots. By now calling on several specialized firms capable of searching for crews worldwide, Royal Air Maroc is also attempting to quickly secure pilots who are already qualified to support the arrival of new aircraft and the expansion of its international network.
