Morocco’s Skies Soar: Royal Air Maroc Expands Fleet with Boeing MAX Jets
The national airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is strengthening its fleet with six new Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft. This will support the growth of Moroccan tourism.
Six new Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft for Royal Air Maroc (RAM). This is the result of a leasing agreement signed between the airline and Avolon, a global leader in aircraft financing. The first two aircraft have already been delivered, the Irish company announced in a press release, stating that the four others will join the fleet by 2026. These new aircraft will mainly serve medium-haul routes connecting Africa to Europe, the Middle East and other major destinations. This leasing agreement is in line with the company’s ambitious strategy to transport 32 million passengers and quadruple the fleet to reach 200 aircraft by 2037.
"These six Boeing 737-8 MAX not only strengthen our fleet, they accelerate our transformation into a global company. With more comfort and efficiency, they allow us to develop our network and offer our passengers a travel experience on par with the world’s best airlines," said Abdelhamid Addou, CEO of RAM. For his part, Paul Geaney, President and Commercial Director of Avolon, said he was delighted to support Royal Air Maroc in its growth. "Africa is set to be one of the most dynamic regions for air transport over the next twenty years, and Royal Air Maroc will play a central role in this expansion," he added.
The African air transport market is growing by more than 6% per year until 2044.
