Royal Air Maroc Nears Deal for 20 Airbus A220s in Fleet Modernization Push

Royal Air Maroc is reportedly in the final stages of an agreement with Airbus for the acquisition of about twenty A220 aircraft. This negotiation is part of a more comprehensive fleet modernization project for the Moroccan company, which has been in talks for this purpose for over a year.
This potential contract would allow the European manufacturer to strengthen its presence with Royal Air Maroc, according to Reuters. Historically, the carrier operates a fleet mainly composed of Boeing aircraft. The Moroccan airline is expected to maintain its relationship with the American manufacturer for the majority of its renewal needs.
In parallel with discussions with Airbus, Royal Air Maroc is expected to confirm a larger order with Boeing. This agreement would involve the purchase of new 737 MAX for its medium-haul routes and 787 Dreamliner for its long-haul network. The current fleet, largely dependent on the American manufacturer, would thus be modernized while retaining its main supplier.
The formalization of part of these transactions could be imminent. According to the same sources, an announcement regarding the order from Boeing is expected as early as next week, during the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget.
