Turkish President Erdogan Selects World Cup Photo of Moroccan Team for Annual Contest

Participating in the vote for the "Photos of the Year 2022" contest organized by the Anadolu Agency, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan chose a photo of the Atlas Lions, taken during the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
The contest covers a series of photos taken by the agency’s photojournalists and correspondents illustrating the key events of the year with an impact on Turkish and global news, which are divided into three categories: "news", "sports", and "environment and life".
In the sports category, the Turkish president voted for the photo by Salih Zeki Fazlioglu titled "Sajdah de Shukr". In this photo, we see the Atlas Lions prostrating themselves in gratitude after eliminating Spain in a penalty shootout to secure their historic qualification for the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
