Trial Delayed for Suspect in Tangier Child Murder Case

The trial of the alleged murderer of the little Adnane, an 11-year-old boy, who disappeared, was raped, found dead and buried near the family home in Tangier opened on Tuesday, has been postponed to a later date due to lack of lawyers. This is the decision of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal of the city.

No lawyer was present at this first hearing devoted in particular to the consultation of the file to defend the main accused, a 24-year-old young man and his three accomplices, reports Al Massae. If the same situation arises at the next hearing, the justice system will appoint a lawyer as part of legal aid in accordance with the provisions of the law.

The charges against the alleged murderer, kept in isolation under protection in the prison where he is incarcerated, include voluntary homicide and rape. Three of his cellmates are being prosecuted for complicity and failure to report a crime.

The murder of little Adnane caused consternation in Morocco. The debate on the application of the death penalty has resurfaced. Many Internet users have also called on the justice system to apply it to the alleged murderer.
