Trial Begins for ’Turbo’ in Moroccan Singer’s Husband Murder Case

The examination of the Reda Abakrim case, nicknamed "Turbo", the main accused in the kidnapping and murder of artist Rym Fikri’s husband, begins before the criminal chamber of the Casablanca Court of Appeal.
On Tuesday, the criminal chamber of the Casablanca Court of Appeal decided to postpone the examination of this case to May 20th, to allow the defense to prepare and appoint lawyers for some of the accused. The civil parties, including a man named Anas and the singer Rym Fikri, will appear during the upcoming hearings. Besides Reda Abakrim, the other individuals prosecuted for charges of kidnapping, sequestration, use of a means of transport to commit the crime, physical torture, in addition to premeditated murder and ambush are Said A, Mohamed J, Zakaria D, as well as Abbas M and Hassan M.
The main accused in the kidnapping and murder of artist Rym Fikri’s husband is a man known to the justice system. Prosecuted for the kidnapping, sequestration, and murder of Moroccan Brahim Hajaji in France in 2007, he was acquitted in February 2024 by the Casablanca Court of Appeal, while he had been sentenced in absentia to 21 years in prison by the Versailles court, alongside Karim B. and Mohamed A. This case presents similarities with the case of singer Rym Fikri’s husband.
