Traveler Praises Morocco’s Beauty, But Vows Not to Return

A traveler has just visited Morocco, which she described as magnificent, but she says she has no intention of returning there, and for several reasons.
Allie Hubers likes to travel. She has already visited 64 countries before the age of 30, but five destinations have left a deep mark on her to the point that she no longer intends to return there. Morocco occupies fourth place in the ranking of the 5 places she has no intention of visiting again. "I have a thirst for authentic travel experiences, especially when I immerse myself in a new culture. So I tried to bargain with the vendors in the Jemaa el-Fna market in Marrakech, to wander through the labyrinthine alleys and to taste a bold and unusual cuisine," she tells Business Insider.
The trip to Morocco did not go as planned. "Unfortunately, my trip was overshadowed by the ultra-insistent sales tactics of some vendors and the unwanted advances of some locals [...]. For example, a vendor grabbed my arm and tattooed me with henna, without my asking, before demanding money from me. At one point, two men also tried to steal my handbag, which further ruined my visit," adds the young woman.
Allie would have liked to have more realistic expectations and to be better prepared to move around the bustling markets safely and confidently. Not everything is negative, however. "Even though some parts of my visit to Morocco took me by surprise, it was also the setting for unforgettable memories with my husband, like a camel ride together at sunset. I’ve never visited another place in the world like this, which is really cool even though I have no intention of going back," she continues.
South Africa tops the top 5. Greece and Spain follow. Japan closes the podium.
