Tragic Day in Safi: Two Young Fathers Die by Suicide, Police Investigate

In Safi, two young married men, fathers of families, committed suicide by hanging, a few hours apart, last Sunday. The judicial police are conducting two separate investigations to shed light on these tragedies.
The two men are all in their thirties. The first suicide was recorded in the Bouaouda district. Armed with a rope, a café waiter committed suicide, in the early hours of the morning, at his home, reports Al Massae. A family member discovered his body hanging above the ground and alerted the police and local authorities. Depression was the cause of this suicide according to the customers of the café where the deceased worked.
The second suicide took place in the Achbar district a few hours later. Missing after four days, a carpenter was found hanged in the workshop where he worked. The neighbors contacted the police after smelling bad odors coming from his workshop. Upon arrival, they opened the door of the workshop and discovered the carpenter’s body, in a state of decomposition, hanging from a rope. His difficulty in getting out of a debt situation would have led him to commit suicide.
The bodies of the two thirty-year-olds were transported to the morgue. The public prosecutor ordered their autopsy. For now, the judicial police are conducting investigations to elucidate these two suicides.
