Tragedy in Montpellier: Teen Killed in Post-World Cup Match Incident, Driver Flees Scene

A driver hit and killed a 14-year-old boy on Wednesday evening, Rue de Barcelone, Cité de la Mosson, in Montpellier at the end of the match between Morocco and France, won by the Blues 2-0. His friends avenge his death by beating up the alleged driver.

The celebrations of France over Morocco turned tragic in Montpellier. A car hit a 14-year-old Moroccan teenager on a road along a tram line in the Paillade neighborhood. Hospitalized in intensive care with a life-threatening prognosis, he succumbed to his injuries, according to a statement from the prefect of Hérault, Hugues Moutouh. The driver, on the other hand, fled, leaving his empty vehicle 200 meters from the scene of the tragedy, at the level of the Jupiter residence, in the neighboring Mosson district.

Angry, the teenager’s friends are said to have found the perpetrator and beaten him up. Seriously injured, he was admitted overnight to a medical facility. He is under the protection of police officers from the anti-crime brigade, Bac, of the national police, reports Actu.fr. For now, investigators are conducting investigations for "aggravated fatal blows with a weapon by destination, in this case the car," in order to shed light on this case.
