Top Premier League Clubs Eye West Ham’s Nayef Aguerd After Standout Season
Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd is on the radar of big Premier League clubs who are looking for a left-footed central defender. His club, West Ham, could keep him or demand a hefty sum.
Nayef Aguerd’s performances are impressing clubs like Tottenham and Manchester United, reports the website www.jeunesfooteux.com. The Moroccan defender is shining at West Ham, which he joined last summer from Stade Rennais for an amount of 35 million euros. On Sunday, he saved the Hammers from relegation by giving his club the victory over Southampton at the London Stadium. He scored the only goal of the game in the 25th minute.
Tottenham hopes to sign the 27-year-old player in the hope that his arrival could bring greater stability to a particularly fragile defense, and allow him to compensate for the likely departure of Clément Lenglet, currently on loan from FC Barcelona, and who will not be retained. As for Manchester United, it needs the Moroccan defender to provide real competition for Raphaël Varane and Lisandro Martinez.
It is up to West Ham to decide the fate of Nayef, whose contract runs until June 2027. It could demand a sum of around 53 million pounds sterling or keep the one described as a "revelation".
