Thousands March in Argenteuil to Honor Teen’s Tragic Death, Family Seeks Answers

A huge crowd took part in the white march organized in memory of Sabri, 18, who died last Sunday. The family’s lawyers announced the filing of a new complaint to shed light on this tragedy.
The procession that left the family home with several thousand people, stopped in front of the fatal pole of the Touillet street, reports Le Parisien.
Almost every participant, dressed in a black T-shirt with the white letters "Light(s) for Sabri", wanted to see with their own eyes this fatal pole on which the deceased had hit his head. At this stage of the itinerary, beyond the bouquets of flowers to be laid, tears flowed on the cheeks, shrill cries rang out to express the pain in the face of the tragedy and this sudden departure of the young boy.
Honored by this black tide of people, spontaneously come to support his family and share his mourning, the father, with the frame of the photo of his son in his hands, recollected himself in front of the pole, which has become, despite itself, a symbol of death in Argenteuil.
Behind, the crowd marks the silence for long minutes. After a few minutes of recollection, the voice of the father thundered: "I thank you all for coming in such large numbers. I want the march to go well, that it gives a good image of Sabri," he wished, before the procession dispersed around 4 p.m.
Thanks to the help of volunteers, recognizable by their red armbands, the crowd reached the family home on Rue de Noyon around 6:30 p.m. Chanting in chorus "Sabri! Sabri! Sabri!", the young people who made the trip organized a clapping under the windows of the apartment, before a release of balloons in tribute to the young man.
In addition to the 500 T-shirts distributed in the neighborhood of the deceased, the Val-d’Argent, the day before, new items were sold, for a minimum of 5 €, before the start of the march to support the family who must face legal fees. Even if the Pontoise public prosecutor’s office ruled out, on Monday, the theory of a collision between the police vehicle and the motorcycle, the family’s lawyers, Maîtres Lucie Simon and Camille Vannier, present at the white march, believe that the conclusions are hasty and support the theory of the chase. According to them, the investigation must address all possibilities. A complaint should be filed in "the coming days", they assure.
