Police Brutality Allegations Spark Legal Action in French Suburb

The family of Soufiane, the 21-year-old man assaulted by the police in Ulis, France, is not giving up. They intend to take legal action against the police officers who mistreated their son.

According to the family’s lawyer, Me Samim Bolaky, the young man left his father’s home on Tuesday, March 24 to take a shower and get a few belongings from his mother’s place, before starting his delivery day at Amazon in the evening. Informed of the presence of two BAC patrols in his mother’s area by friends, he decided to bypass his route. But in vain. According to the lawyer, these patrols have a reputation for often carrying out violent checks.

Arrested after a chase, after turning back to look for his exit permit forgotten at his father’s, Soufiane was the victim of violence, under the stunned gaze of the residents of the Hautes Plaines district in Yvelines. Having noticed that they were being followed by witnesses, the young man’s ordeal, handcuffed, continued under a porch, with blows, cries, insults: "We’ll take you to the forest and we’ll burn you. You’re just a little b****."

If in the report signed by Soufiane without a re-reading, under the shock of the pain, no mention was made of the blows received by the young man, accused of "refusing to comply", the injuries on his body speak volumes. The doctor who examined him, in view of these injuries, even prescribed him four days of ITT. A complaint has therefore been filed for "aggravated intentional violence" against his assailants.
