TGV Kénitra-Marrakech: The Wali of Marrakech imposes his red lines

The high-level meeting held on Thursday at the Wilaya revealed the final contours of the project. Khatib El Hebil, Wali of the region, and Mohamed Rabie Khlie, head of the ONCF, reviewed the financial structure, the route and the logistics. The Office promises a realization to international standards, integrating new stations along the route to respond to the royal strategic vision.

However, the local authority refuses that this structural development turns into a nightmare for the inhabitants. Khatib El Hebil has demanded the maintenance of smooth traffic throughout the duration of the construction site. The teams will have to apply drastic measures to avoid the asphyxiation of road traffic and guarantee the safety of users as well as workers.

The other battle will be aesthetic. The Wali insisted on preserving the unique charm of Marrakech. The future rail infrastructure will have to be harmoniously integrated into the local urban planning, respecting the visual identity of the tourist city.
