Tetouan Invests in Flood Protection for Industrial Zone with New Containment Canal

The regional council of Tetouan and the Loukkos Basin Agency have signed an agreement to build a containment canal in the southern perimeter of the industrial zone. This will protect this area from flooding.
This canal will have the capacity to collect the waters of the Mhannech wadi that runs alongside it, says L’Économiste. The Loukkos Basin Agency is responsible for conducting the study work and preparing the specifications.
The municipality is responsible for launching the tenders and overseeing the work in coordination with the local authorities and the Amendis company in charge of liquid sanitation management. It is up to the Regional Council to mobilize the financing for this infrastructure. It allocates a budget of 7 million DH.
The start of the work is scheduled for 2021, and the canal will be put into service in 2022.
