Kenitra Industrial Zone Expands to Meet Growing Demand in Morocco

Kénitra benefits from the extension of its Industrial Acceleration Zone (ZAI). The agreement was signed by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy, Moulay Hafid Elalamy and the Director General of the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion, Abdellatif Zaghnoun, on Tuesday in Casablanca.
The expansion of the ZAI located in the commune of Ameur Saflia, in the province of Kénitra, and covering an area of nearly 96 hectares, will strengthen the reception capacity of this zone which is currently 94%. Thus, the signing of the protocol agreement will set the terms and commitments of the stakeholders, especially the mobilization of land and the realization of the necessary analyzes which will be ensured by MEDZ, a subsidiary of the CDG for the development, development, promotion, marketing and management of the new extension of the ZAI.
Taking the same opportunity, Elalamy indicated that the PSA automotive ecosystem installed in the area has more than 60 automotive parts suppliers. He also stressed that the automotive sector is booming, thanks to the rate of integration and design in Morocco of automotive parts as desired.
Regarding employment, 5,821 jobs were created by the end of 2019, much more than the 5,000 initially planned, the minister said proudly. In the same vein, Mr. Zaghnoun said that the Kénitra ZAI has allowed operators and investors to be granted reception spaces laid out to the best international standards with competitive prices and quality infrastructure.
Inaugurated in 2012, the ZAI now has 49 companies with a total investment exceeding 20 billion dirhams and has created 36,571 jobs. The new extension is aimed at new investors who will join the existing ecosystem, in order to operate under the best conditions of deadlines, prices and quality.
