Tetouan Beauty Salon Owner Fights Rumors, Files Defamation Lawsuit

The owner of a women’s beauty salon, open for a year near a mosque in the upscale neighborhood of the Wilaya of Tetouan, filed a complaint with the justice system after the spread of a rumor that her center was also frequented by men.
A Facebook page and some online media recently announced that this esthetic center for women, practically adjoining the Mohammed VI mosque, is also frequented by men. The owner of the establishment has decided to file a complaint for defamation before the courts, reports the daily Akhbar.
The local authorities took the opportunity to ensure that the center has obtained all the necessary authorizations to operate. The Ministry of Habous conducted its investigation and forwarded its report to the relevant authorities. The investigation opened by the public prosecutor’s office, and conducted by the judicial police, is also ongoing. The investigators have already questioned the neighborhood, who confirmed that the beauty salon only receives women and, according to them, does not engage in any actions contrary to morals.
According to the daily, the controversy would have been provoked by competition, specifying that the owner of the center had worked in an establishment in the neighborhood before setting up on her own, much to the chagrin of the other centers whose turnover had decreased. The administrators of the Facebook page at the origin of this controversy were summoned on Friday by the investigators of the judicial police.
