Moroccan Mosque’s Ban on Women Sparks Outrage, Calls for Intervention

Women no longer have access to a mosque located in Imintanout, in the province of Chichaoua. Associative actors cry out in indignation and call on the competent authorities to intervene.
A mosque in Imintanout, in the province of Chichaoua, has been closed to women, without any prior notice. The person in charge of the mosque has decided to close the wing reserved for women in this place of worship, near the court of first instance of Imintanout, without providing any explanation. Thus, this decision prevents women in the neighborhood and employees of the courthouse from practicing their prayers.
The closure of this mosque is not well received by the associative actors. They have asked the competent authorities to intervene immediately to reopen the place of worship to women and allow them to exercise their right to pray. It remains to be seen whether the authorities and the services of the delegation of the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs are aware of this action.
