Tensions Escalate in Guerguerat as Morocco Bolsters Security Amid Polisario Provocations
"The situation in the Guerguerat area can degenerate at any time." For the specialist in military and defense issues, Abderrahmane El Mekkaoui, the acts of provocation by the Polisario violate international conventions, and Morocco is aware of the seriousness of the situation.
"The arrival of a delegation of senior Moroccan officials in Dakhla is part of the strengthening of the security system in the region," said the military expert, stressing that Moroccan intelligence has a very precise database on the allies of the Polisario and Algeria in the area.
The presence of a special unit of the Military Gendarmerie in Dakhla is justified by the rising tensions at the border area level. "The Polisario is not autonomous and the decision of war or peace is not within its jurisdiction," said the expert.
It should be recalled that a Moroccan delegation, composed of senior officials from the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie and the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), arrived in Dakhla on Sunday evening.
