Teen’s Death After World Cup Match: Suspect Arrested, Faces 20-Year Sentence

Arrested on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 in Perpignan, the alleged murderer of Aymen, the 14-year-old boy hit and killed on December 14 in Montpellier, after the Morocco-France match, faces a 20-year criminal sentence.
After his arrest at relatives’ in Perpignan, the driver of the car that hit and killed Aymen before fleeing to Spain must be presented before the magistrate, with a view to being charged with "fatal blows with a weapon", reports Midi Libre. He faces a 20-year criminal sentence.

Also, he felt the need to justify the fugitive driver’s flight after the tragedy. "If he fled, it’s also because he was afraid of reprisals against him and his loved ones, he waited for it to calm down," he says, however assuring that his client was preparing to surrender to French justice well before his arrest near Perpignan. "He had decided to return to the French justice system, he was supposed to turn himself in to the police, but that doesn’t change anything about the case."
