Teen Arrested in Fatal Assault on Moroccan Minor in Jaén, Spain

A 16-year-old has been placed in detention in a juvenile center as the alleged perpetrator of the murder of a 17-year-old Moroccan minor in Bedmar and Garcíez (Jaén).
The two young men had an argument on Sunday, which ended in the death of the 17-year-old minor a few hours after his transfer to the San Juan de la Cruz hospital in Úbeda, the sub-delegate of the government, Catalina Madueño, said on Wednesday. The victim would have fallen after receiving a punch from the other minor, according to witnesses. "The minor was arrested based on the serious injuries found on the victim’s body. The juvenile judge ordered his admission to a juvenile center," he added.
"It was not a major confrontation, just a dispute between two minors, no more. So there is nothing in principle that suggests there is any problem of a larger scale," the sub-delegate specified. The municipal council of Bedmar y Garcíez (Jaén) held an extraordinary session on Monday to "firmly condemn the death of Abdel that occurred on Sunday, October 30, and decree a three-day mourning period during which the flags will be flown at half-mast."
The authorities and residents of the town have also expressed their condolences and solidarity with the family of the deceased. A peaceful march of "protest against all kinds of violence" took place on Tuesday in the Municipal Square. "We ask for the respect, understanding and solidarity of everyone in these difficult times for the inhabitants of Bedmar," the authorities said.
