Teen Arrested After Armed Bank Heist in Casablanca Nets $20,000

In Casablanca, an 18-year-old young man was arrested by a police patrol after robbing a bank branch in the Ben M’sik neighborhood.
The robbery took place in the middle of the day on Friday in Ben M’sik. Armed with a bladed weapon, a masked individual entered a bank branch, stabbed the security guard, and demanded that employees open the safe and hand over a sum of money estimated at 200,000 dirhams, reports Assabah. As he was leaving the branch with his loot, the suspect came face to face with a police patrol. They pursued and arrested him.
The police discovered that they were dealing with an 18-year-old young man, who was in an abnormal state at the time of the robbery. He was under the influence of psychotropic substances. The preliminary investigation reveals that he "had planned this robbery for a long time, choosing the Friday prayer time as the ideal moment to act, estimating that the branch would be less busy with a minimum of employees. However, the presence of a police patrol near the branch caused his plan to fail."
During a search of his home, a police team seized mobile phones and computers. Afterward, the suspect was placed in custody to further the investigation. As for the security guard, whom he injured in the leg, he was admitted to the emergency room to receive necessary care. The stolen sum of money was returned to the branch.
