Taxi Scam in Benslimane: Drivers Exploit State Subsidy with Fake Vehicle Swaps

Some taxi drivers in the city of Benslimane are replacing the vehicles in good condition with the famous Mercedes 240, in order to benefit again from the state subsidy. A real scam.
At the heart of this deception is an organized network that collaborates with brokers to defraud the state, denounce professionals in the sector. The method is simple: the "samsars" take care of buying the Mercedes 240 which they replace with new cars after having benefited from the scrapping premium, reports Assabah.
As a result, these vehicles intended for scrapping according to the procedure are bought back by the members of the network, put back into circulation and then used for fraudulent purposes. The operators will benefit more than once from the state subsidy with the same out-of-use vehicles that had already received it. Consequently, dozens of fake grand taxis (Mercedes 240) have been circulating in Benslimane for a few weeks.
There, more than 25 vehicles have been introduced, without any legal basis, into the taxi fleet operating in the province, the same source specifies. Their operators, for their part, try to escape the control of the police, the gendarmerie and the police station in charge of the daily check-in of the drivers as provided for by the law in force. To do this, they only transport customers to Rabat, Bouznika, Mohammedia and Casablanca.
