Taxi Driver Assault in Marrakech Sparks Safety Concerns for Tourists and Locals

The people of Marrakech and tourists visiting the ochre city continue to suffer from the unpleasant behavior of some taxi drivers. A young woman said she was assaulted on Sunday by one of them.
The victim recounted to Kech24 that she took a taxi at night on Sunday to accompany a friend home and make a trip. After dropping off the friend at her home, the driver began to insult the young woman and asked her to get out of the vehicle, indicating that he no longer wished to take her to the agreed destination.
The young woman says she refused, which led the driver to use force to remove her from the vehicle, causing her an injury to her arm. The victim filed a complaint with the competent authorities against the driver for assault and an attack on her honor as well as that of her friend.
Faced with this latest case of verbal and physical violence from taxi drivers, the people of Marrakech are calling on the competent authorities to take firm action against the latter, who continue to tarnish the image of the city with their aggressive behavior.
