Marrakech Airport Taxi Driver Under Investigation for Overcharging Tourist

The authorities have opened an investigation after a foreign tourist filed a complaint for fraud against a taxi driver working at Marrakech airport.
According to the local news site Kech24, the individual was summoned this week to explain the strange rate charged to the tourist.
The driver, affiliated with a union, is said to have billed the tourist an exorbitant sum of 300 dirhams for a trip between the airport and the Gueliz district, a rate well above the official tariff. The victim reported the facts to the registration service.
An official hearing was held on Thursday, and the taxi driver is expected to be confronted with the tourist yesterday, Friday. The latter was expected to complete the ongoing procedures.
Last June, taxi drivers had been sanctioned in Marrakech for unjustifiably raising their rates. Licenses had been withdrawn from drivers from the Bab Doukkala station.
