Tangier Revives Plans for Urban Cable Car to Ease Traffic and Boost Tourism

The urban cable car project in Tangier, already envisaged since 2010, is resurfacing. It could even be put into service very quickly if the current constraints are overcome quickly.
2.5 kilometers long, it plans to connect four strategic points of the city: the Kasbah, the Port, the Marina and the "Faro" square. The stated objective is twofold: to decongest the city center and to strengthen the tourist appeal of the "Pearl of the Strait".
However, this project, which would offer an exceptional panoramic view of the city, faces significant obstacles. Consistent sources mention difficulties in raising the necessary funds for its realization. In addition, there are administrative complications and changes in priorities that could delay its implementation.
Despite these uncertainties, the local business community remains optimistic. They see this cable car as an innovative solution to improve traffic flow, while offering tourists and residents a unique experience. The first phase of the work should begin in the coming months, with an ambitious goal of partial commissioning as soon as possible.
