Tangier Parking Rates Double, Sparking Outrage Among Drivers

The price of parking in the Somagec Parking lot, located in the administrative district of the city of Tangier, has doubled to the great dismay of motorists. Exasperated, they are calling on the mayor of the city, Monir El Limouri, to act.
Parking is not immune to inflation. In Tangier, the parking fee has gone from 3 dirhams to 6 dirhams for the period from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but the old rate (3 dirhams) is maintained for the period from 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., reports Al3omk. This new pricing is causing a reaction. Many parking lot customers denounce a flagrant violation of the specifications that require the Somagec company to apply a fixed rate. They call on the company to respect the original rate (3 dirhams) throughout the day.
Many motorists are asking the mayor of Tangier, Mounir Laymouri, to intervene to put an end to these illegal practices and ensure that the company respects the specifications.
Soumaya Lachiri, deputy mayor of Tangier, responsible for the parking and mobility sector, refuses to comment when contacted by the site.
