Tangier Officials Urge Reopening of Beaches Amid COVID-19 Restrictions

The inhabitants of Tangier are asking for the easing of restrictive measures. Elected officials from the majority and the opposition, echoing the grievances expressed by the inhabitants, have just addressed the Ministry of the Interior.
Even though they are aware that the Tangier region is the one with the most active cases in Morocco, they are unanimous on the subject. It is necessary to offer the inhabitants some leeway after having spent several months in confinement.
Thus, in addition to the classification in zone 1, they are asking "for an easing of restrictions and in particular the reopening of the beaches". For them, children need to thrive and breathe fresh air, having been cut off from everything during the prolonged confinement.
It should be remembered that since the beginning of the deconfinement, cases of contamination have multiplied in the region, forcing the authorities to take drastic measures, such as the ban on residents celebrating Eid Al-Adha outside of Tangier.
