Strengthening community policing by managing security interventions on public roads. This is the full scope of this command and coordination room of the mobile unit of the Emergency Police. Specifically, this room aims to ensure the intensive deployment of units and to strengthen the sense of security among citizens.
The mobile unit of the emergency police under the Prefectural Police of Tangier has 8 vehicles, 32 motorcycles and 15 bicycles. It mobilizes 179 police officers divided into four teams covering the entire intervention area of said prefecture.
According to Mohamed Ouhtit, the Prefect of Police of Tangier, the command and coordination room is an integrated system of security services. It involves receiving citizens’ requests for assistance through several telephone lines and immediately determining the location of the intervention or the crime scene via surveillance cameras, before the actual arrival of the brigades of the mobile unit of the Emergency Police.
For the record, the DGSN had opened the first command and coordination room of the mobile unit of the Emergency Police in Rabat, as a pilot experience, before generalizing it to Salé, Témara, Marrakech, Fez and Tangier.
