Tangier Imposes Midnight Curfew on Bars and Restaurants Amid New Year’s COVID Restrictions

Since last Tuesday, all cafes, bars and restaurants in Tangier will have to close their doors from midnight to 6 a.m.
This decision by the city authorities comes after the announcement of a series of new measures by the government concerning the New Year’s Eve celebrations, from December 31, 2021 to January 1, 2022, aimed at fighting the spread of the new coronavirus.
These include:
• Prohibition of all New Year’s Eve celebrations;
• Prohibition of organizing special evenings and programs in hotels, restaurants and tourist establishments;
• Closure of restaurants and cafes at 11:30 p.m.;
• Curfew on New Year’s Eve from midnight to 6 a.m.
To this end, agents have been mobilized to inform the merchants concerned of the content of the new decree of the wilaya of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, the authorities said.
According to the government, due to the persistent threat of the pandemic, it is imperative that citizens respect all the directives of the public authorities and all the precautionary measures decreed by the health authorities.
