Tangier: A Dispute Between Merchants Turns Tragic
A violent altercation between two street vendors resulted in a fatal tragedy on Monday afternoon at the Benkirane market in Tangier. The incident, which occurred over the control of a stall, highlights the urgency of regulating the informal trade during Ramadan.
A simple verbal dispute over the exclusive use of an exhibition space quickly escalated. The altercation turned into a physical confrontation involving the use of bladed weapons, inflicting critical injury on one of the protagonists.
Rushed to the nearest healthcare facility, the victim did not survive the severity of their wounds. This brutal death has caused deep distress and a state of alert among the other merchants and local residents. For his part, the 21-year-old suspect initially fled the scene before surrendering to the security services, who had already identified and pursued him.
