Fès: A man threatens his neighbors before fatally striking his father

The city of Fès was shaken at midday by this violent crime. The suspect inflicted fatal blows to his father, causing his death at the scene of the altercation. The police officers intervened quickly to restrain the individual and proceed with his arrest.

The neighbors tried to intervene when the tone escalated between the two men. However, the suspect threatened the neighbors with his weapon before delivering "a violent blow to his father’s head," according to witnesses of the scene.

The aggressor, married and father of two children, is known to suffer from mental disorders. According to local sources, he would have stopped taking his medical treatment a few hours before the events, which would have triggered an uncontrollable nervous breakdown leading to the fatal act.

The scientific and technical police were dispatched to the scene to carry out the usual investigations under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office. The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue for an autopsy, while the suspect was placed in custody pending his appearance before the justice system.
