After a high-speed chase in Tangier, the investigation reveals a drug trafficking operation by helicopter to Spain
The investigation into the spectacular high-speed chase that occurred on Thursday evening in Gzenaya has seen a lightning acceleration. The Royal Gendarmerie apprehended three individuals linked to an international drug trafficking network, revealing a sophisticated modus operandi involving the use of a helicopter to reach Spain.
The incident, which caused panic on Thursday evening on the road connecting the Hajriyine area to Ibn Battouta airport, resembles a violent settling of scores. A high-speed chase between an off-road vehicle and a light car resulted in shotgun fire, before the protagonists fled. The immediate mobilization of the technical and judicial units of the Royal Gendarmerie, supported by the analysis of video surveillance and the discovery of a cartridge at the scene, quickly identified the shooters.
The investigations led to a coordinated operation between the National Brigade and the Tangier company. Three suspects were apprehended during simultaneous interventions: two in Oued Laou and a third in Tangier. Among the identified profiles is a criminal from Kenitra, already wanted nationally for kidnapping, forming a criminal gang and drug trafficking.
Beyond the violence of the altercation, the investigation has uncovered the high-level logistics used by this network. The suspects are accused of using a helicopter flying at low altitude and at night to evade radar, thus ensuring the rapid transport of hashish cargoes to the Spanish coast.
