Tangier Builds Industrial Zones to Formalize Informal Manufacturing Sector

The work on the new industrial zones in Tangier, set up as part of the fight against the informal sector, is progressing rapidly. The first deliveries are scheduled before the end of this year.
It involves the construction of 300 premises to take manufacturing units out of clandestinity. With a total budget of 300 million dirhams, this project covers an area of 26 hectares belonging to the State’s domain.
According to L’Économiste, the finishing work would have already started for two of them, Tanja Balia and Aouama, adding that the realization of the work has been entrusted to the Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North (APDN).
Once the zones are operational, they are intended to improve the working conditions of the actors in the informal sectors, in particular the industrial, service and craft units located in residential areas, the newspaper points out.
