Morocco’s Fnideq Free Trade Zone Set to Launch Operations in February

The work for the realization of the first part of the Fnideq free zone is completed and the start of activities is scheduled for this month of February.
According to the supervision of the work, it is the development of an area of 10 ha, taking into account the earthworks, the roads, the sanitation, the public lighting and the electricity, all for an amount of 200 million DH, reports l’Économiste, specifying that this first part includes industrial buildings intended for import-export trade and light industry.
For this first part, the project has planned 33 warehouses of 360 to 1,000 m², modular according to the needs of the investors. Pending the establishment of the zone, several industrial units have already been set up in the region last year. They are proceeding with the recruitment of women who have worked at the Bab Sebta border.
The project aims to develop the northern region of the country and give it a new economic impetus. Ultimately, the number of jobs to be created will reach 5,000 direct jobs, indicates the Northern Promotion and Development Agency (APDN), according to which priority has been given to young people in the region who will be able to import goods via the port of Tanger Med and ensure their marketing from Fnideq.
