Tangier to Launch Two Industrial Zones Following Deadly Workshop Tragedy

Two new industrial zones for informal activities will soon be launched in Tangier. A project that comes after the tragedy that occurred in a clandestine textile workshop, which left 28 dead and several injured.
The two new industrial zones will be built on a total area of 26.6 hectares belonging to state property, divided between Zaidienne (12.1 hectares) and Moghogha (14.5 hectares), reports L’Économiste. The Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of the Interior and the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima regional council will finance this project, the total budget of which amounts to 320 million DH. Pre-equipped premises ready for installation will thus be built. The land will also be developed. The work has been entrusted to the APDN.
The project aims to improve the working conditions of informal sector actors, in particular industrial, service and craft units located in residential areas. It is a question of "pushing them to become structured units by giving a boost to investment and job creation". This project is of paramount importance, insofar as it comes after the deadly flood that occurred in a clandestine textile workshop in Tangier.
