Tangier Bank Robber Gets 3 Years for Cancer Treatment Heist Attempt

The man who tried to rob a bank in Tangier because of his father’s cancer (to ensure him treatment), and who was finally arrested, has just been sentenced to three years in prison and a fine.
Three years in prison and a fine of 20,000 dirhams, this is the sentence just handed down by the criminal chamber of the Tangier Court of Appeal against the young man who tried to rob a bank in the city of the Strait in order for his father, who is suffering from cancer, to be able to have adequate treatment.
The young man was arrested on April 16 in flagrante delicto for attempted robbery of a bank branch under threat of a bladed weapon. The scene of his arrest was immortalized by a video. The bank’s door had been closed by the private security guard. The police arrested him inside the bank.
His father needed a 30,000 dirhams operation and a support campaign had been launched so that the bank branch would withdraw its complaint and so that donors could contribute to pay for the surgical intervention his father needs. This young man used to work in a stone quarry but his meager salary was not enough...
