Tanger Med warns MREs: avoid traveling between August 25 and 29 if possible

Tanger Med expects one of the summer’s biggest return peaks. MREs with some flexibility are invited to avoid, if possible, the days from August 25 to 29, which are expected to see very heavy traffic toward Europe.

Tanger Med Passengers’ official Marhaba 2026 schedule classifies the five days from August 25 to 29 as having « very heavy » traffic. August 30 is also expected to be a busy day.

This period had already been identified in Tanger Med’s calendar of black days. As the peak approaches, Jaafar Aamiyar, central director of the Tanger Med port, once again called on travelers to plan their return in advance and, whenever possible, avoid the busiest days.

Do not arrive with an open ticket

Tanger Med is also reminding travelers of an important rule: open or undated tickets must be modified before arriving at the port.

The passengers concerned must contact their shipping company to obtain a confirmed crossing date and time, subject to available space on board.

The « fixed-date ticket » system is specifically intended to limit traffic jams and long waits around the port during periods of heavy traffic.

Travelers who absolutely must hit the road between August 25 and 29 should therefore check their reservation and traffic conditions before departing. Those who can postpone their crossing are advised by Tanger Med to choose another date.
