Tanger Med Port Unveils New Strategy to Streamline Summer MRE Traffic

The Marhaba Operation is in full swing at Tanger Med. The port has set up a special system to ensure the fluidity of traffic for Moroccans in Europe and avoid traffic jams this summer.
Ensuring the fluidity and safety of MRE traffic. This is the objective targeted by the Tanger Med port by activating its special system as part of the Marhaba Operation. Human, technical and logistical resources have been mobilized to welcome Moroccan MREs under good conditions. The system provides for regulated access to the port between 1st and 31st August 2025. During this period, only travelers with a round-trip ticket will be allowed to enter the port, the port authority said in a press release. The measure aims to avoid traffic jams and ensure fluidity of traffic, especially during peak periods.
Other measures planned: the dissemination of updated information on the official website of the Tanger Med passenger port, as well as on the official accounts on social networks and the Tanger Med radio, available on the 100FM frequency. The port authorities invite MREs to regularly check the traffic forecasts on its information channels in order to choose a crossing date outside the critical periods, both during the outward and return phases of the Transit Operation. For the outward phase, traffic jams are expected from 18 to 21 July and from 1 to 4 August. For the return phase, the periods from 1 to 4 July, and from 8 to 11 July, or from 18 to 31 August, are less critical.
The period between 14 and 27 August is not recommended. MREs are invited to travel during the first half of July for the first phase and the beginning of September for the return phase. The Marhaba Operation takes place every year from 15 June to 15 September. It allows Moroccans in Europe to reach Morocco via the Andalusian ports or by land and air to spend their summer holidays.
