Swiss-Based Algerian Player Hussayn Touati Open to Representing Morocco Internationally

Moroccan-Algerian player Hussayn Touati, who plays for Servette FC, the runner-up in the Swiss championship, does not rule out the possibility of one day playing for Morocco, even though he has already played for Algeria.

"I had a first experience with Algeria, it was a pride and a form of recognition for my work. If Morocco calls me, it will also be a pride, because it is true that it is my father (editor’s note: his father is Moroccan, his mother Algerian) who gave me this passion for football," said Foot Mercato, Hussayn Touati, the Algerian U20 international who dreams of playing in the U23 CAN scheduled for the end of June in Morocco.

The 21-year-old winger plays for Servette FC in Switzerland, where he made his debut with the reserve team, after his stint in the youth academy of Olympique Lyonnais (OL) and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). "It’s a pride. We worked a lot for that. It comes to reward my years of sacrifice. My passages to OL and PSG led me to that. If I had doubts? Of course. I was at OL and PSG and I have a lot of friends who signed before me. There is this fear of failure, but I never gave up..." confides the player who has just signed until 2025 with the Swiss club.

Hussayn Touati is already focusing on next season, during which his club will play in the European Cup. His goal is to establish himself in the team as a starter. "I’ve only made substitutions so far," said the right winger, who has scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists in 14 matches. With the reserve team, he had scored 11 goals and provided 8 assists in 16 matches. Technical, powerful and dribbling, the former PSG player dreams of playing in the German championship. "After Servette, I would like to play in the Bundesliga. It’s an attractive championship. That would be the perfect next step for me."
