Real Madrid Recalls Brahim Díaz, Sparking Morocco National Team Speculation
Saturday 3 June 2023, by
Currently under contract with Real Madrid until 2025, Brahim Díaz will join the Madrid club’s first team next season after the end of his two-year loan to AC Milan. This decision, supported by Real Madrid’s management and Carlo Ancelotti, could also push the player to join the Moroccan national team.
Brahim has shone this year in Serie A, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists in 44 matches, including a very nice match in the Champions League semi-final against Inter.
After three years on loan at AC Milan, Brahim’s last match as a Milan player will be tomorrow against Verona. Despite his success in Italy, the player from Malaga will return to Spain to join his home club, Real Madrid.
Morocco, Brahim Diaz’s final choice?
Spain seems to be closing the doors of the national team to him. Despite an impressive season in Italy, the coach of La Roja, Luis de la Fuente, did not call up Díaz for the Nations League, a disappointing decision for the player who had previously been selected for the under-19s and under-21s.
This situation could lead Díaz to consider playing for the Moroccan national team. Brahim, whose father is of Moroccan origin, has been approached several times by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation to wear the Lions’ jersey, semi-finalists of the last World Cup. The next selection will be in September, which gives Díaz time to make his decision. Brahim’s heart’s choice is to play for Spain as he has confessed on several occasions, but he could turn to Morocco if the coach continues to ignore him in the next La Roja meetings.
