Swedish Court Sentences Man to Life for Brutal Murder of Young Mother in Stockholm
The Stockholm court has sentenced a Moroccan national to life imprisonment with a fine of 60,000 Swedish kronor, for the horrible murder of a Moroccan woman aged 24 in front of her infant child barely a year old.
The case dates back to April 2 when the 34-year-old man, invited by the young couple to share their apartment in Stockholm, had committed his criminal act before fleeing by train to Copenhagen.
The murderer, an acquaintance of the victim’s husband, was arrested a month later in Hamburg, Germany, following an international arrest warrant issued by the Swedish authorities.
In a statement, the court president said that "the woman was the victim of great violence and the crime was committed in the presence of the one-year-old baby, who was left to his own devices without any help. Life imprisonment is the most appropriate judgment".
