Suspended Moroccan Police Officer’s Video Sparks DGSN Response Amid Ongoing Legal Case
The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) reacted to the video published by the police officer Hicham Mellouli on social networks.
In the video, we see the police officer Hicham Mellouli complaining about being deprived of his salary. He demands that his administrative status be settled by his hierarchy, arguing that he has already been cleared of all suspicion by the courts. According to the police institution, the man is involved in a case pending before the courts and is therefore suspended from his duties, pending the decision of the Rabat Court of Appeal.
In a statement, the DGSN recalled that this is a case of kidnapping, attempted rape and assault and battery. The accused was placed in pre-trial detention in the local prison of Salé by the competent judicial authorities.
It is therefore to allow him to defend himself that he has been provisionally suspended from his duties, with the effect of suspending his right to a salary in accordance with the provisions of the last paragraph of Chapter 73 of the General Statute of the Civil Service and the special status of DGSN personnel.
The hearing to decide on his acquittal or conviction is scheduled for January 8, 2020. After this battle in court, he will have to appear before the disciplinary council, which will decide on his future within the Moroccan police, the statement concludes.
