Suspended Moroccan Police Officer Arrested for Drug Trafficking and Attempted Murder

The trial of the suspended police officer will open early next week before the court of first instance of Rabat. In pre-trial detention at the Laarjat prison (Salé), he is being prosecuted for attempted murder, setting up a criminal drug trafficking network and illegal use of his service weapon.
After repeatedly evading the nets of the Salé judicial police brigade, the defendant was apprehended last week in the act of drug trafficking. He was in possession of 2.5 kilograms of cannabis resin.
During a search of his home in Hay Salam, the investigators seized a large quantity of cannabis from Ouezzane and Chefchaouen, reports Assabah.
Classified as dangerous by the police, the former police officer had been prosecuted for attempted murder. He had used his service weapon to shoot at individuals who wanted to kidnap his girlfriend in the Maâmora forest.
After an investigation by the general inspectorate, the agent had been suspended from his duties by the General Directorate of National Security.
