Senior Moroccan Police Inspector Arrested for Drug Trafficking and Suspicious Cash
A senior police inspector is the subject of a judicial investigation conducted by the National Brigade of the Judicial Police. the accused is involved in a case of drug trafficking and possession of money of dubious origin.
In a press release, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicates that the police officer had been arrested on Friday morning, on the outskirts of Oued Zem, by a patrol of the Royal Gendarmerie. While he was on board a passenger car, he was caught in the act of possessing 98 grams of cannabis resin, large sums of money of dubious origin, in national and European currency, three Moroccan passports in the name of others.
To all this are added, nine mobile phones and an alarm pistol, as well as a hundred 8 mm cartridges, in addition to a box containing 475 metal bullets and a Moroccan license plate, the statement said.
The DGSN specifies that the accused was immediately taken into custody and made available to the investigation entrusted by the competent prosecutor’s office to the National Brigade of the Judicial Police. This will make it possible to elucidate the circumstances of this case and also to determine the origin of the seized objects in his possession as well as all the criminal acts with which he is charged.
Furthermore, continues the same source, the DGSN services have suspended the police officer in question, pending the outcome of the judicial investigation procedures.
