Suspects from Influential Families Held in French Lawyer’s Rape Case in Morocco

The elements of the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) are continuing the investigation into the case of the rape of a French lawyer involving suspects from influential families. The investigations focus on a list of names of guests at the lavish party. Among the revealed identities are sons and daughters of influential and renowned families, who have been investigated and questioned about the details of the party. They had received personal invitations, verified at the entrance of the villa by private security guards, Hespress reported.

The investigators are also interested in the details of the organization of the lively private evenings, particularly those supervised by the main accused Kamil Bennis (K.B.). According to the testimonies of the guests, a large number of sons of influential personalities and celebrities, as well as ordinary people, were trying to attend the parties organized by K.B. To achieve their goal, some of them went through intermediaries to ensure their presence and include their names on the guest list.

On Saturday, the Attorney General of the King near the Court of Appeal of Casablanca referred the four accused to the investigating judge to continue the investigations. They are accused in particular of forming a criminal gang, rape, kidnapping and sequestration. Pending the completion of the ongoing legal proceedings, they have been detained at the Oukacha prison.

It all started at a private party organized in early November at Kamil Bennis’ residence in Ain Diab in Casablanca, which was attended by influential personalities of the city. While the party was proceeding normally, a French lawyer claimed to have been the victim of a rape. Her fiancé, Mohamed Amine Naguib, was also assaulted. The French woman filed a complaint with the judicial police services in Paris, accusing the organizer of the party of having raped her using a drug called "GHB". She provided medical certificates proving the rape. The young woman also filed a complaint in Morocco. Medical tests also confirmed that she had consumed cocaine. The lawyer’s fiancé filed a complaint for assault. He claims to have been physically assaulted by one of the security guards of the villa. He came out with rib fractures and head injuries.

After the detention of the suspects, the parents of one of them are seeking an amicable settlement with the victim, the same site reveals. In the past, one of the accused had physically assaulted a person and caused a deep injury in a restaurant he owned. After receiving medical care, including cosmetic surgery, the victim had received financial compensation in exchange for withdrawing the complaint, it is reported.
