Setting oneself on fire is an act that has seen a terrible resurgence in recent years in Morocco. The city of Fez woke up on Friday with a new tragedy. A young man who, according to his mother’s statements, set himself on fire to have been attacked and humiliated by a neighbor, reports lopinion.ma.
The young man in question is a fig vendor with a mobile cart. The neighbor would have prevented him from placing his cart near her home. An argument broke out between the two and he found himself with tattered clothes and slapped in front of passers-by.
Feeling humiliated, despised and disappointed by the situation, the fig vendor set himself on fire to protest against the injustice he had suffered.
