Moroccan Man Dies After Self-Immolation Amid Marital Dispute

A 40-year-old man, married and father of four children, committed suicide by fire on Tuesday in the village of Ouled Moujane, in the Settat region. He was seriously burned and died of his injuries.
According to sources close to the case, the man would have committed this desperate act because of marital problems. His wife, who had left the marital home to take refuge at her parents’ house, refused to return despite her husband’s attempts at reconciliation. The latter, unable to accept the situation, sprayed himself with a flammable substance and set himself on fire in front of his in-laws’ house.
An investigation has been opened by the Royal Gendarmerie of Tleta Loulad under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office of the judicial district of Settat. The body of the deceased was transported to the morgue for an autopsy.
