Moroccan Expat Uncovers Election Candidate’s Fraud in Casablanca Appliance Scam

In Casablanca, a Moroccan expatriate (MRE) was scammed by an individual who ran in the recent legislative, municipal and regional elections under the banner of a major political party. An election poster allowed the police to identify and arrest him following a complaint for breach of trust and fraud filed with the justice system.
The MRE contacted the accused after consulting a Facebook page that offered transactions in the household appliance sector, reports Assabah. She orders and pays for equipment but receives no delivery. With recordings of the telephone communications, the MRE files a complaint against the fraudulent seller with the justice system in Casablanca. But the investigation stalled, as she did not know the seller’s address to communicate it to the investigators.
Later, she was lucky to spot the individual’s photo on an election flyer during the last election campaign. The fraudulent seller is a candidate in the local electoral district of Berrechid in the Casablanca-Settat region. She then decides to file another complaint for breach of trust and fraud against him. The election flyer allowed the investigators to identify the scammer and arrest him.
