Standard Liège Star Amallah Unexpectedly Dropped for Crucial Match Amid Contract Dispute

Moroccan international Selim Amallah was not selected for Sunday’s match between Standard and Sporting Charleroi. The player received notification from his coach shortly before the video session last Friday.
Presented as one of the jokers of the Liège club, Selim Amallah will be absent from one of the most important matches of Standard. Yet the player is not injured and should participate, barring last-minute changes, in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, reports La Dernière heure.
Is the 25-year-old player paying for his refusal to extend his contract with the Liège club? This is what is being said among Selim Amallah’s entourage. For Standard, it is not the refusal to extend that explains this decision, but "the non-compliance with certain commitments made in the context of contract negotiations that is being sanctioned". Author of four goals and one assist this season, Amallah is nevertheless at the peak of his form.
Given his situation, he has informed Walid Regragui who reassured him that his club’s decision will not influence him when he makes his list for the next World Cup, during which Morocco will have to face Belgium.
