Speeding Driver Kills Moroccan Gendarme in Checkpoint Collision Near Rabat

Wanting to escape a Royal Gendarmerie check on the coastal road connecting the town of Harhoura and Rabat, a driver rammed straight into a gendarme. The latter died on the spot.
This tragedy occurred on Friday, September 4 near Harhoura, about fifteen kilometers from the city of Rabat.
According to the account of the facts, the driver of a German-branded car was checked at a speed exceeding the regulatory limit. Witnesses say he was driving at 110 km/h when the speed limit is 50 km/h on this road.
Subsequently, he hit the gendarme who was in front of him. The gendarme would have died on the spot.
Arrested and held in custody at the Harhoura Command, the driver will be brought before the Court next week near the Criminal Chamber of Rabat, Hay Riad.
